Merlin Players Artistic Director Julianna Skluzacek and cast member Eric Parrish are scheduled to join me on the AM Minnesota program today.

The show is at 9:30 a.m.

The Merlin Players are performing the Tony Award winning musical "1776" beginning next Friday at the Paradise Center for the Arts in downtown Faribault.

This will be Julianna's 100th directing project.

Skluzacek has wanted to perform this production for a number of years and chose it for a couple of reasons.

It's an election year and many of the founding members of the Merlin Players are available to be in the show.

Joining Skluzacek on the artistic team are Sandy Brooks as pianist, Megan Proft as choreographer and Kim Scaufenbuel as music director.  Nate Chesney is the orchestra manager.

With music and lyrics by Sherwin Edwards and a book by Peter Stone, "1776" earned a Tony Award as Best Musical when it debuted in 1969 and then again in 1989 when it again won the Tony for best revival.

The story is based on the events surrounding the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

It dramatizes the efforts of John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson to persuade their colleagues to vote for American independence and to sign the document.

The production will also coincide with the Faribault Heritage Days celebration and features a Saturday, June 18 matinee so it doesn't conflict with the evening parade.

Get all the details at 9:30 a.m. or tune in to www.youtube.com/KDHLRadio.
