The Merlin Players' area premiere of Love, Loss and What I Wore will open April 10 at the Paradise Center for the Arts in Faribault.

The play is written by sisters Nora and Delia Ephron, who wrote You've Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle. Love, Loss and What I Wore is a collection of stories from women about major life events and how the memories of these events are triggered by an article of clothing. The play is based on Ilene Beckerman's memoir, which is filled with drawings of garments throughout her life, whether a first date or wedding dress. Next, the Ephron sisters sent out requests to 100 of their closest friends and friends of friends to send their own stories. The results is a play about our closets with nothing to wear, things our mother told us, why we hate purses, love shoes and why we wear black. It is a play that has audiences laughing and sighing together. The play became the last project the sisters worked on together because of Nora's early death from cancer.

The Merlin Players' professional theater production stars Shelly Whitehead from Waseca, Cynthia Paley of Owatonna, Jennifer Pike of Northfield, and Stephanie Weiss and Sydney Place Sallstrom of Minneapolis.

Artistic director Julianna Skluzacek says women of all ages will relate to the show and, when asked whether men will enjoy the show, her response was, "Our stage manager Bill Stransky has four sisters and sits and laughs every night at rehearsals." He says it's like growing up all over again.

Tune in at 9:30 a.m. and get more information about dates and costs for the show.
