Bret Michaels is performing this Friday night at Grand Casino Mille Lacs Event Center. I won't be going to see him perform because I'll be spending the weekend with granddaughter, whom I haven't seen since summer. Even if you had tickets to Rush (my favorite band, but you already know that), I would turn them down rather than skip this time I get to spend with her.

I'm not going to this show, but I did get a chance to see him this past summer at Ribfest in Mankato, and he put on one helluva good show, if I do say so myself. I'm not really interested in his solo material, but when he launches into his old Poison stuff, that's when the party gets started. He also does some great covers of old rock 'n' roll classics that really resonate with the audience, and there's a lot of chances to sing along with him. But, like I said, it's the old Poison material that I go to see him perform, so let's run down my Top Five Favorite Poison Singles.

Look What the Cat Dragged In

This is probably my favorite single from this glam metal outfit and it hit No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard 200.

    I Want Action

This one only managed to make it to No. 50 on the U.S. Billboard 100, but got everybody up and out their seats every time I saw them perform it.

  • 3

    Talk Dirty To Me

This was the band's first big international hit, clocking in at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100.

  • 4

    Nothin' but a Good Time

The first single from their second album, Open Up and say... Ahh! This track scored them a hit at  No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 19 on the Mainstream Rock chart.

    Ride the Wind

You were expecting "Unskinny Bop" weren't you? Sorry, and I don't really get into their couple of ballad hits either. I really like this tune because it shows the band starting to mature in their songwriting abilities. This single made it to No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100.
