It's a big deal, getting crowned Rice County Fair Queen. Your competition is tough, and loves the fair as much as you do. Not to mention the nerve-wracking interviews and talking in front of people.

But six girls entered this year in hopes of earning the crown, and the fair also celebrated and recognized the 40th anniversary of the first Fair Queen coronation. More than 100 former members of fair royalty were invited to return. About 35 were able to attend, including the first queen, Cyndy Griebel, who was crowned in 1976.
