I have to admit that I was not one of those people who were totally optimistic that Paul Molitor was the man to take over the Twins managerial position. As much as I liked Ron Gardenhire, I knew that a change was needed. I think Gardenhire still has some years left to be a manager, and it would be interesting if the rumors come true that he might get the Detroit job.

When we had those first few games and the team went 1-6, I was going here we go again. But then all of a sudden, the bats came alive, the pitching was not too bad and we got a bunch of wins. We were riding Kansas City's heels and then the All Star break happened, and our bats went silent. We fought hard some days, other days it seemed like they didn't care what happened. And again this year even though our record is much better, we are on the outside looking in for the play-offs.

So what about next year? I think we still need to find some good, solid pitchers and a few more solid bats. I am not sure Glen Perkins has much left. It might be time to shop Joe Mauer and I hope Torii Hunter gives it at least one more season. And I hope his comments he said after Sunday's game come true -- that we will get to the big dance next year.
