The 2017 National Pheasant and Quail Classic is being held February 17 through February 19 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Jared Wicklund is public relations manager for Pheasants Forever Inc. and Quail Forever and will join us by telephone for today's KDHL AM Minnesota program at 9:30AM.

The event is a celebration of wildlife conservation, upland bird hunting, dog training, wild game cooking and hundreds of exhibitors. It's the largest upland hunting and conservation event in the world.

Show hours are noon to 8PM Friday, February 17, 9AM to 6PM Saturday, February 18, and 9AM to 4PM Sunday, February 19.

There's a Bird Dog Parade at 11AM Friday featuring more than 80 dogs representing 40 hunting breeds.

  • National Pheasant Summit: Features Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton, South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard and Minnesota DNR Commissioner Tom Landwehr discussing the future of upland habitat conservation efforts and pheasant hunting in the Midwest.
  • Pollinator Symposium: The "Bees, Butterflies, Birds and You" Pollinator Symposium begins at 12:30PM Friday and features some of the nation's leading experts on pollinator health.
  • Discover New Gear: With more than 400 exhibitors and endless amounts of firearms, upland gear, bird dogs, guides and outfitters.
  • Enjoy Live Entertainment: Country music artist Gary West will provide live entertainment for the Bird Hunter's Banquet Friday night at the Minneapolis Hyatt Regency. This is a western themed Johnny Cash tribute show.
  • Wild Game Cooking Stage: Renowned wild game chefs will provide live demonstrations throughout the weekend.
