On a cold blustery day like this, the last thing you're probably thinking about is a nice, cold, juicy slice of watermelon. Instead you're probably wishing for a nice piping hot cup of hot chocolate. Too bad, because today is National Watermelon Day. Normally it's a warm summer day, just perfect for the sweet delicious taste of a slice of this vine grown fruit.

If watermelons aren't your thing, it's also National Grab Some Nuts Day. Now before you go out and celebrate in a way that could land you in jail, they're talking about peanuts, pistachios, walnuts, pecans and such. Grab a handful of these delicious hard fruits. Not only are they a tasty treat but according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, "Higher nut intake is associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, total cancer and all-cause mortality, and mortality from respiratory disease, diabetes, and infections." In other words, people that regularly consume nuts, have better health.

So throw on a sweater or sweatshirt and grab some nuts and a slice of watermelon and enjoy your autumn-like day.
