Saturday, December 9th is a day I’ve been looking forward to for months: the 4th Annual Rochester On Tap at the Mayo Civic Center. Based on everything I’ve heard from people who have gone in previous years, you are really in for a treat if you already have your tickets. (If not, you can still order tickets here or simply purchase them at the door)

While you’re there, you can also take a look one of the Mayo Civic Center’s new features: a 30-foot long, 15-foot high sculpture set to be put up on the Riverfront Plaza at 7AM on Saturday morning. It also has a little interactive twist: viewers are allowed to type on a nearby keyboard that will cause the sculpture to emit sound and light. Apparently, whatever you type will be “translated” into music and light, which is pretty interesting. Po Shu Wang, the sculpture’s artist, says this is intended to help bring friends and strangers together to collaborate. I’m just thinking of all the different things I could type. There’s a lot of potential there for mature and immature people alike!

Now as far as what this unnamed sculpture looks like? Well, um, I’ll leave that one up to you.
