Earlier this week, New Prague High School choir students got the experience of a lifetime, performing with Foreigner at the Xcel Energy Center on Monday night.

Choir instructor Ryan Uttech said the students' day started with an in-studio performance at Fox 9 News in the morning, then a concert at the New Prague Ford dealership as part of a choir fundraiser. Uttech said Foreigner's lead singer, Kelly Hansen, also came to the fundraiser, offering tips to the students and signing autographs.

The highlight was, of course, that evening's on-stage performance of "I Want to Know What Love Is" with Hansen and Foreigner at the Xcel Energy Center. "The kids will never forget singing with the multi-platinum recording artists in front of so many screaming rock fans!" Uttech said.

The school was very supportive, providing a charter bus for the day, as well as promoting the event at Homecoming Pep Fest and on the daily news.

Uttech said at first the parents may have been more excited than the kids, but "as the day drew nearer and metro TV stations started coming to our rehearsals and interviewing us they started to really grasp the magnitude of this opportunity -- to the point a couple were almost hyperventilating backstage before the song."
