I drove out to North Morristown on Sunday and saw some people getting things ready for their 124th annual event.

The grounds were virtually empty compared to what they will be on the 4th.

I'm honored once again to be asked to assist with announcing the parade, and we will be broadcasting the patriotic program on KDHL for those who can't be there.

A new event this year kicks off the North Morristown July 4th Celebration. The Firecracker 5K Run and Walk starts at 8AM.

The food stands open and silent auction begins along with a volleyball tournament at 9AM. At 9:45AM the Morristown American Legion has a flag raising ceremony.

The North Morristown Parade starts at 10AM and includes the kiddie and pet parade all rolled into one. The Grand Marshals are Bob and Arlene Mueller.

The patriotic program follows the parade by 10 or 15 minutes, so around 11AM is my guess. Armed Forces Chaplain Meyer will be the keynote speaker and Korean War veterans will be recognized.

The medallion hunt starts at 11AM; remember, you need a button to capture the prize. A button is just $2 and helps defray the expense of the entertainment for the day. There is no admission charged, no parking fee, so it would be great if you could purchase a $2 button even if you are just coming out for the parade.

From noon to 4PM the Jolly Huntsman Band is in the Beer Garden. A horseshoe tournament also begins at noon.

At 12:30 and 3PM, Bernie King and The Guilty Pleasures take the main stage. They are a new group to North Morristown, recommended by Monroe Crossing.

At 1:30 and 4PM, Minnesota Music Award-winning Monroe Crossing is back again to entertain with their terrific harmonies.

At 7PM The Skally Lane, a bluegrass trio is also new to North Morristown.

From 7:30-11:30PM, Downtown Sound is back in the Beer Garden.

Fireworks are shot about 10PM.

The food is terrific, with popcorn with real butter, taco in a bag, hamburgers, french fries, onion rings, hot beef sandwiches, barbecued pork sandwiches, homemade pie, ice cream, lemonade (freshly squeezed), milk, beer, pop and bottled water.

I know I'll see many of you in North Morristown on Monday. Tell me you listen to KDHL and I just might buy you a piece of pie!
