Southern Minnesota has always been a hotbed of great wrestling. This year has been no different with perennial powerhouses like Owatonna and Zumbrota-Mazeppa have gotten off to great starts to the season and Northfield looking strong in the Big 9.

Northfield's Jake Messner (16-5) finished in 2nd place at 113 lbs after falling by a major decision 11-3 to Byron's Maxwell Petersen (11-0).

Northfield's Trayton Anderson (18-1) finished in 2nd place at 132 lbs after losing a decision 5-3 to Mankato West's Charlie Pickell (17-1).

Northfield's Drew Woodley (15-2) took 4th place after losing by DQ to Scott West's Tyler Shackle (20-4) at 138 lbs.

At 152 lbs Northfield's Ethan Johnson (16-5) took 7th place in a 3-2 decision over Bismarck, ND's Brandt Kringlie (20-8).

The championship match at 182 lbs was more than likely a well-viewed competition as Owatonna's Cade King (19-2) went up against fellow Big-9 opponent Albert Lea Area's Zach Glazier (18-0). King ended up in 2nd place after Glazier beat King on a 4-1 decision.

Finally, at 285 lbs Northfield's Antonio Carter (13-7) won 7th place by a DQ win against Bismarck Century's (ND) Konnor Stordalen (23-5).
