The Northfield Premier Bank was robbed by two armed men Tuesday morning, and police are searching for the suspects.

The Northfield Police Department is hoping some people in downtown Northfield between 11:30 a.m. and Noon will report what activity they may have seen in the area.  Northfield Police Chief Monte Nelson says around 11:40 a.m. two armed men entered the Premier Bank building in downtown Northfield through the front doors on fifth street, took money and then fled out the back door.

No individuals inside the bank were injured.  Nelson reports the suspects are two black males, both reported to be 6 feet or taller, one heavier set.  The two were wearing bright fluorescent safety vests at the time of the robbery, according to witnesses.  One also had a multi-colored, black and purple winter jacket.  The other wore a dark jacket.

The Northfield Police Chief wants people to report whatever they saw in the downtown area to the department's non-emergency number, 507-645-4477.

Nelson says law enforcement officers were in the area of the bank, located at 112 Fifth Street E. this afternoon looking for evidence and questioning employees. Some K9 units were also used to assist and the Federal Bureau of Investigation is also assisting in the search.
