The Northfield Raiders made the long haul to Winona on Friday night to face the undefeated Winhawks. Winona won 24-14.

Northfield had lineman Isaac Cornell return to the lineup on both the offensive and defensive line but they went without starting defensive lineman Sam Bakko and starting linebacker Caleb Leonard.

And Northfield coach Bubba Sullivan said on the coaches show Saturday morning that the lack of size on the offensive line is an issue and the team needs to focus on fundamentals.

Lars Prestemon connected with Isiah Walker for a 33-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter and the Raiders led 7-0 at the half.

Winona tied it up in the second half with an opening drive Riley Bosteter found Terrell Hall for a 23-yard touchdown pass to get the Winhawks back in the game. Northfield regained the lead when Prestemon threw his second touchdown pass of the game, a 53-yard strike to Alex Rasmussen to make it a 14-7 game with short time left in the third quarter.

Bosteter connected with Logan Smith for a 12-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter to tie the game again and 14-yard touchdown run from Alex Franzwa gave Winona its first lead of the game at 21-14.

A 26-yard field goal from Joshua Bade made it 24-14 and sent the Raiders home with their second loss of the season. The Winhawks knocked off Northfield last year at Memorial Field as well.

Prestemon finished seven of 17 passing for 127 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Noah Johnson completed four of nine passes for 25 yards with an interception, and Walker threw an interception as well.
