It was a peaceful, easy feeling at Target Field Saturday evening as fans from three generations turned out for what may be the final appearance of the Eagles in Minnesota.

The sellout crowd had to endure a few hours of heat and humidity (and long lines at the porta potties and beer vendors) but was entertained by a shoeless Jimmy Buffet who ended his set with his signature “Margaritaville” and walked off the stage as the sun was setting.

The Eagles wasted no time in firing up the crowd, playing most of the band’s megahits and paying tribute to the late Glenn Frey. His son Deacon (wearing a Twins jersey) was front and center during most of the 2 ½ hour concert, as was Joe Walsh who also blasted out some of his solo hits. Vince Gill covered most of the Frey songs of the concert.

The stage, sound, and lighting were top-notch and the evening ended with Eagles co-founder Don Henley singing a crisp rendition of “Desperado.”

There was no official announcement, but liquor sales at the concert may have set a Target Field record.
