Local weather professionals will be in the KDHL studio today to discuss what to do in the event of severe weather emergencies.

Today is tornado drill day in Minnesota. The sirens will be set off twice so people can test their plans at work and home: 1:45PM and 6:55PM.

Faribault Emergency Management Director Dusty Dienst always emphasizes the sirens are outdoor warning sirens and are not meant to be heard indoors. He says people tell him all the time they can't hear the siren inside and there is a reason why they are called outdoor warning sirens.

When you hear the siren or learn you are in a watch or warning you should tune to KDHL 920AM or Power 96 Radio 95.9FM for more specific information.

The Everbridge alert system also includes weather alerts and we will learn more about that at 9:30AM during our special severe weather awareness show.
