The Owatonna girls' fast pitch softball team won a thriller 7-6 over Lakeville South Thursday at Todd Park in Austin. Rochester John Marshall eliminated OHS from the Section 1AAAA tournament 8-1 after that.

The No. 5 seeded Huskies scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to beat the Cougars 7-6. Rilee Schmidt drove in the winning run. Alexa Sommers pitched the complete game. No. 8 South out hit Owatonna 15-11.

In the next game, No. 3 JM gradually built the lead to win 8-1. Jamie Davison broke up the shutout with a late inning home run. Liv Larson started in the pitching circle with Sommers coming on in relief. The Huskies were held to three hits and only gave up about six to the Rockets.

Owatonna ends its season at 7-14. Seniors on the team include Schmidt, Davison, Sommers, Torey Buck, Hannah Fisher and Kenzie Karsten.

No. 4 seed Lakeville North and No. 2 Farmington, the defending state champion, will meet in the winners' bracket Tuesday at Todd Park. John Marshall will challenge top-seed New Prague in the losers' bracket.

Blooming Prairie's softball season ended Thursday with a 3-1 loss to Faribault Bethlehem Academy in Section 1A. NRHEG dropped a 7-2 decision to top-seed St. Peter in Section 2AA. The Panthers will play an elimination game Saturday at 1 pm vs Cannon Falls at Caswell Park in North Mankato.
