Crash in Wheatland Township on Monday

Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn informed us that on Monday, March 9, at 1:40 p.m. in the 11000 block of Union Lake Trail, Wheatland Township, Rice County deputies, Lonsdale Fire/Rescue and North Ambulance were dispatched to a dump truck rolled over on the roadway.

Upon arrival, one occupant was found trapped in a 1999 Sterling dump truck.Rescue personnel extricated the driver.The driver was transported by ambulance to New Prague Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.   

The driver was identified as Maurice Schroeder, 41, of LeCenter.Schroeder was wearing his seatbelt.The truck was owned by Don’s Trucking of Lonsdale.     

Upon investigation, the vehicle had been eastbound on Union Lake Trail and the driver lost control near the shoulder of the road and rolled over on the roadway, spilling its load of sand.The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Lonsdale Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol and the Rice County Highway Department.
