It was great seeing all the die-hard parade-goers who turned out for last night's Twilight Parade at the 30th annual Morristown Dam Days Celebration. Even though John Anderson and I were able to stay relatively dry, our candy throwers and Jerry Groskreutz, KDHL's ag director, were fairly soaked by the end of the parade. Despite the rain there was still a real good turnout, with many of the viewers having already set up canopies and umbrellas to stay dry under, and we went through a lot of candy to the kids that lined the streets. Check out our YouTube video of the parade here.

Today my wife and I packed up the minivan with my daughter and two of my granddaughters and headed over to Morristown for more fun on what turned out to be a nice sunny day. Our main itinerary for the day was to eat and go on the carnival rides with my oldest grandaughter, although there were plenty of other events going on, like the kids fishing contest, a farmers market, a car show, an art show, a kids pedal pull and more. Tonight there's fireworks at the baseball field and Smokescreen closes out the night at the street dance under the big top tent/beer garden. Tomorrow there are more activities with Grist Mill demonstrations, a kiddie parade, a BBQ cookoff contest, a duck drop race, a hypnotist show, a $1,000 raffle drawing and more. Go here if you'd like a list of activities for the remainder of the Morristown Dam Days Celebration.
