My daughter got married over the weekend, so I took a couple of days off last week to help get things ready for her wedding. Here's a brief recap of the Power 96 Cool Ones I featured during that time, along with Monday's choice.

On Thursday I tracked an early tune from Canadian heavy metal band, Helix, called "Billy Oxygen." Taken from their debut studio album Breaking Loose. Despite getting some airplay in Canada, for this tune as well as the album, both failed to chart.

Friday's Cool One was the sinister "Unholy" from Kiss. Gene Simmons handles the lead vocals on this single, the first time since 1982's "I Love It Loud." Taken from their 16th studio effort, Revenge, it failed to chart although the album went to No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard 200.

On Monday I tracked a new single from the Minnesota band, Soul Asylum. This Cool One has the apocalyptic title of "Doomsday" and comes from their 11th studio album, released in March of this year, Change of Fortune.

Listen for today's Power 96 Cool One at 4:35PM, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault.
