Power 96 Cool One Recap: Blind Melon

Yesterday's Power 96 Cool One was Blind Melon's "Galaxie" from their second studio album, Soup. The single earned them a No. 25 position on the U.S. Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and No. 8 on the Alternative Songs chart while the album charted at No. 28 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Shannon Hoon, their lead singer, passed away from a drug overdose about two months after the August 15, 1995, release of Soup.

I decided to go with Blind Melon after hearing "No Rain" and trying to recall any other singles they might have released. I found out that there were four songs that managed to chart. Of course "No Rain" was their biggest hit and topped the U.S. Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart at No. 1, but the tune "Tones of Home" made it to No. 10 on that same chart and "Change" scored a No. 35 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 41 on the Canadian Singles Chart.
