The Power 96 Cool One featured yesterday was Chris Cornell's recently released single "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart" from his forthcoming album, Higher Truth, set to be available to the masses on the 18th of this month. It's already reached No. 16 on the U.S. Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.

Cornell is best known as the lead singer-songwriter and rhythm guitarist for Soundgarden, a band I featured as a Cool One on Tuesday last week. He was also the vocalist and songwriter for the supergroup Audioslave.

Higher Truth is Cornell's fourth solo album, having released Euphoria Morning, which went to No. 18 on the U.S. Billboard 200 in 1999; Carry On, which went to No. 17 in 2007; and Scream, which hit No. 10 in 2009.

Today's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you Kelly's Auto Parts on Seventh Street in Faribault, features an artist who has been involved and has evolved throughout his career in the music world over the past four decades but hasn't toured since 2003-04 and hasn't performed live since 2006. Join me, on Power 96, at 4:35 this afternoon to find out who it is.
