The Power 96 Cool One I chose yesterday was Collective Soul's "Listen." The second single released from their 1997 album Disciplined Breakdown made it to No. 72 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and to No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart. It also did well in Canada, coming in at No. 2 on the Canadian RPM Alternative 30. The album itself fared well, coming in at No. 16 on the U.S. Billboard 200.

Collective Soul, based in Atlanta, were formed in Stockbridge, Ga., and found their first success with the hit "Shine," which propelled them into the spotlight in 1994. Supposedly, they took their name from a phrase in the Ayn Rand book "The Fountainhead." I prefer her book "Anthem," but that's a whole different blog.

This afternoon's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault, comes from a Scottish group that released their first album in 1979; their followup album didn't come out until 2013. Tune in at 4:35 to find out what today's Power 96 Cool One will be.
