A supergroup of Ted Nugent, Tommy Shaw of Styx, Jack Blades of Night Ranger and Michael Catellone, who would later go on to be the drummer with Lynyrd Skynyrd, make up the Damn Yankees, yesterday's Power 96 Cool One artist. Their self-titled album is probably their better known release, but I decided to play a track off their second and final attempt, Don't Tread. My choice was "Silence is Broken," which went to No. 62 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and No. 20 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The album itself went to No. 22 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and gave us three other singles, "Don't Tread on Me," "Mister Please" and their second-highest charting single, "Where You Goin' Now," which made it to No. 20 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and No. 6 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.

Today's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts, comes from a band that, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, or RIAA, are the "best-selling music artists in the United States." Make sure you're listening at 4:35PM to find out what the name of that band is.
