Yesterday's Power 96 Cool one was David Bowie's "Modern Love" from his 1983 album Let's Dance. This was Bowie's fifteenth studio release and was very well received, selling around seven million copies around the world and charting at No. 4 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and No. 1 in the UK. Several singles were released from the record including the title track that went to No. 1 on U.S Hot 100 and in the UK, China Girl that made it to No. 10 on the U.S. Hot 100 and No. 2 in the UK and yesterday's Cool One, "Modern Love" that reached No. 14 on the U.S. Hot 100 and No. 2 in the UK.

This album is an early starting point for the career of Stevie Ray Vaughan, as he's credited as the lead guitarist. Bowie and Vaughan had first met in Switzerland at the 1982 Montreux Jazz Festival, where the latter artist had been performing.
