I have been a big fan of yesterday's Power 96 Cool One band since they released their first album, On Through the Night, back in 1980. I didn't even know what they sounded like at the time, but the album cover appealed to my young teenage self's musical curiosity and I wasn't disappointed in my purchase. Over the years, Def Leppard have put out some great albums, and yesterday's Cool One comes from their 1982 album and third studio release, Pyromania. This was a huge record for them, reaching No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange, it was the first album with guitarist Phil Collen, replacing original guitarist Pete Willis halfway through the recording sessions. The Cool One, "Billy's Got a Gun," made it to No. 33 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.

Tune in at 4:35PM this afternoon for the next installment of the Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault. Today I feature a solo effort from one of the Fab Four.
