Yesterday's Power 96 Cool One, "Hard Sun," was a solo effort from Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder. Back in 2007 Vedder recorded an album's worth of tunes for the Into the Wild soundtrack. The single "Hard Sun" peaked at No. 13 on the U.S. Billboard Alternative Songs chart while the soundtrack reached No. 11 on the U.S. Billboard 200.

The movie Into the Wild follows the journeys of Christopher McCandless, an Emory University graduate who decides to live the simple life and walk or hitchhike from North Dakota to Fairbanks, Alaska. After spending more than 100 days in the back country of Alaska, McCandless passed away from starvation and was found by a hunter in an abandoned bus just off the Stampede Trail near Denali National Park.

This afternoon's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts on Seventh Street in Faribault, comes from a heavy metal band formed in Las Vegas and their cover of a tune from a hard rock band formed in Westminster, England. Join me at 4:35PM to find out who it is on Power 96.
