Monday's Power 96 Cool One was Boston funk-metal band Extreme's "Kid Ego" from their self-titled debut released in March 1989. Extreme made it to No. 80 on the U.S. Billboard 200. "Kid Ego" was the only release from the album to chart, coming in at No. 39 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. The other singles include, "Little Girls," "Play With Me" and "Mutha (Don't Wanna Go To School Today)." You may have noticed from those titles that this album seems to  have a childhood-related theme. A couple of other tracks that carry on that theme are "Big Boys Don't Cry" and "Teacher's Pet."

While not quite as polished as their best-selling sophomore release, Pornograffitti, their freshman release is still a fun chapter in Extreme's history, which foreshadowed the music to come from the band.

This afternoon's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts on Seventh in Faribault, comes your way at 4:35PM on Power 96.
