I started off the week with a Power 96 Cool One from Extreme's III Sides to Every Story, which was the follow-up to their successful 1990 release Extreme II: Pornograffitti. The tune I chose to showcase was the first single from the album and was titled "Rest  in Peace." It peaked at No. 96 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 but was No. 1 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The album did well, charting at No. 10 on the U.S. Billboard 200.

Other singles from III Sides to Every Story are "Stop the World," "Am I Ever Gonna Change" and "Tragic Comic." "Stop the World" made it to No. 9 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and "Am I Ever Gonna Change" notched itself at No. 10 on that same chart.

By the way, Extreme's lead singer, Gary Cherone, was the lead singer for Van Halen for one album, Van Halen III, which was also Michael Anthony's last as their bassist.

Don't miss this afternoon's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts on Seventh Street in Faribault. Today I track an old tune from an English boogie-blues band. Listen at 4:35PM to find out who it is.
