I featured the Foo Fighters and "Something From Nothing" during yesterday's Power 96 Cool One. Taken from their most recent release, 2014's Sonic Highways, which had an HBO televison series built around the recording process, which was filmed in eight different cities. In each city they visited they recorded a song that featured one or more musicians, with a musical background from that town, until they had the eight tracks for the album. Sonic Highways made it to No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200; the single "Something From Nothing" scored a No. 1 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock Tracks and U.S. Alternative Songs charts.

The name Foo Fighter was used by Allied pilots, during World War II, to describe UFOs or other unexplainable aerial phenomena, and the Foo Fighters took their name from that term.

Don't miss today's Power 96 Cool One at 4:35PM, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts, which comes from a band whose appearance was a bit twisted.
