Ironhorse was the band I featured yesterday on the Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault. Their release "My Sweet Lui-Louise" was the tune I tracked off their self-titled 1979 album and it reached No. 36 on the Billboard Hot 100.

This Canadian rock band was initially made up of ex-Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive member Randy Bachman along with Tom Sparks, Chad Leighton and Ron Foos. Ex-Trooper member Frank Ludwig replaced Sparks for Ironhorse's second release Everything is Grey, which scored the minor Canadian hit "What's You're Hurry Darlin'," which charted at No. 84.

I had the pleasure of seeing Ironhorse perform at an outdoor concert back in 1979 at the old Midway Stadium, just off Snelling, in St. Paul. It was one of those multi-band all-day events held on a beautiful hot summer day and Ironhorse's "Sweet Lui-Louise" was getting a lot of airplay that summer.

Today's Power 96 Cool One comes from an accomplished guitarist and former member of Thin Lizzy. Make sure you're listening at 4:35 to find who this Cool One artist is.
