Jackson Browne was yesterday's Power 96 Cool One artist. I tracked his tune "Redneck Friend," which went to No. 85 on the U.S. Billboard 100. On the album For Everyman, which was released in 1973, it's listed as "Red Neck Friend," but the single came out as "Redneck Friend" with "These Times You've Come" as the B-side. The album itself bested his previous effort, his eponymous debut album, by 10 positions and made it to No. 43. This seems to have been an album that really cemented his popularity with the fans, as his next five albums made it into the Top 20.

Elton John, credited as Rockaday Johnny, plays piano and Glenn Frey handles vocal harmony on yesterday's Cool One, which is lyrically filled with double entendres and was the first single from the album.

Today's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you Kelly's Auto Parts, comes from my favorite band, and that's all I have to say about that. I had to move it up a few minutes, because of the Bethlehem Academy softball game, so make sure you're listening around 4:30 today to find out who it is.
