In remembrance of Jeff Healey's passing in 2008 at age 41 due to cancer, I chose the single "Confidence Man," which made it to No. 11 on the U.S. Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. This track came from their debut album, See the Light. Released in September 1988, it peaked at No. 22 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 and scored them a nomination for an "Album of the Year" Juno Award in 1990.

Another single that came from the album that you might remember is the ballad "Angel Eyes." I remember getting a lot of requests for this tune while working in the early years of Power 96 and during many of the wedding dances I deejayed at that time.

You also might remember Healey from his performance in Patrick Swayze's movie, Roadhouse. His group was the house band at the bar that Swayze's character was the bouncer for.

By the way, I have to give props to Steve "Rooster" Erickson for reminding me that yesterday was the day that Jeff Healey joined that great rock 'n' roll band in the sky.

Please join me for another Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault, at 4:35PM this afternoon.
