Power 96 Cool One Recap: Joe Jackson

I was on vacation yesterday so the Power 96 Cool One was an encore presentation of last Thursday's Cool One which featured Joe Jackson. I tracked his single "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" from his 1979 release Look Sharp. The single charted at No. 21 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and managed to go to No. 13 in the UK and remains his most memorable songs to date. Meanwhile the album peaked at No. 20 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and No. 40 in the UK. His biggest hit would come a few years later, in 1982, with the release of the single "Steppin' Out" which went to No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

Born in England, Jackson has been nominated for five Grammy awards over his lengthy career that got it's start in 1979 and has gone from a new wave sound to a more pop/jazz infused style of music.
