Power 96 Cool One Recap: John Mellencamp

I've always liked the song I chose for yesterday's Power 96 Cool One because of it's upbeat straight-forward rocking quality. The track I chose, "Love and Happiness," comes from his October 1991 release, Whenever We Wanted, his 11th studio album and the first one he recorded under the name John Mellencamp. "Love and Happiness" was one of many singles released from the album, and made it to No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Only "Get a Leg Up" and "Again Tonight" would do better, with each going to No. 1 on that same chart. Meanwhile the record did pretty well, reaching No. 17 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Just as a side note, I'll probably be dragging out "Get a Leg Up" one of these days to feature as a Cool One, because it possesses that same fun, feel-good rocking sound.
