Friday's Power 96 Cool One came from John Stewart with some help from Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks. They put together a little number called "Gold" from Stewart's May 1979 release Bombs Away Dream Babies. The Cool One hit No. 5 on the charts and the singles "Lost Her in the Sun" and "Midnight Wind" also charted in the Top 40. Bombs Away Dream Babies would be his only commercially successful solo effort despite releasing a rather extensive amount of albums during his career.

John Stewart is probably best known as a member of the folk and pop music group the Kingston Trio. He also wrote the Monkees No. 1 hit "Daydream Believer." Stewart continued to tour and record until his death at age 68 in 2008 after suffering from Alzheimer's disease and ultimately succumbing to a massive stroke or a brain aneurysm on January 18, 2008.

Don't miss the next Power 96 Cool One at 4:35PM this afternoon, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault.
