Thursday's Power 96 Cool One came from Kansas. It was their single "Hold On" from their seventh studio album, Audio-Visions. The single itself peaked at No. 40 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The album released in September 1980 made it to No. 26 on the U.S. Billboard 200.

The recent conversion to Christianity of Kansas songwriter Kerry Livgren greatly influenced the lyrics on this album. According to Wikipedia, "Hold On" "was written as an evangelistic plea to his wife. This was also the last album recorded by this band's line-up until they all got back together to record Somewhere to Elsewhere in 2000.

Unfortunately I owe my readers an apology, I read some erroneous information stating that Sammy Hagar had tried out for the band, but I can't find that info today to confirm that story.

Today's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault, comes from a band that has a mascot named Eddie, who likes to make appearances at their concerts much to excitement of their fans. Listen at 4:35PM to find out who it is.
