Yesterday's Power 96 Cool One was "Go For a Soda" by Canadian rocker Kim Mitchell. From his 1984 Akimbo Alogo release, it was his only single to become a hit in the U.S., reaching No. 86 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 12 on the Mainstream Rock Track charts. You might remember "Go For a Soda" being used to promote the soft drink Mr. Pibb on television. Even though Mitchell hasn't done as well in the U.S., he's still managed to rack up at least seven Top 40 albums in his native homeland as a solo artist, and his previous band, Max Webster, charted several albums as well.

Mitchell still performs many shows a year, with several upcoming shows scheduled at venues in Ontario, Canada. He's also the afternoon drivetime jock on the classic rock station Q107 in Toronto.

Today's Power 96 Cool One comes from a glam rock group that broke up after their lead singer died in a tragic car accident in 1977. Don't miss today's Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts, at 4:35 p.m. on Power 96.
