Power 96 Cool One Recap: L7

Wednesday's Power 96 Cool One came from the all girl grunge band, L7. I chose to feature their top 20 hit, "Andres," from their fourth album, Hungry for Stink, which was released on July 12, 1994. This track squeaked its way into the top 20 at No. 20 on the U.S. Billboard Alternative Songs chart and No. 34 on the UK Albums chart. Meanwhile, the album did very well on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart topping out at No. 2 but only notched itself at No. 117 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and No. 26 on the UK Albums Chart.

Hungry for Stink was released during their stint on 1994's Lollapalooza Tour and was a noticeable departure from their previous punk sounding albums to a harder edge with darker themes.

Even though this band is remembered as an all-girl band, Roy Koutsky was their original drummer but quit after about a year and a half and was eventually replaced by Demetra Plakas.
