I wrapped up last week's tribute to David Bowie with a single from his 1971 album, Hunky Dory, titled "Life On Mars." It features piano work by Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman and wasn't released as a single until 1973. It didn't chart in the U.S. but did manage to peak at No. 3 on the UK charts. The album, which came out on December 17, 1971, was his fourth studio effort and was his biggest hit at the time in the UK, topping out at No. 3 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 44 on the U.S. Billboard 200.

Join me this afternoon for the next Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts on Seventh Street in Faribault. Today's Cool One features an American artist who is very much alive, but like Bowie has a music catalog with unique, diverse and very eclectic recordings both as a solo artist and as part of a band. Find out who this gentleman is at 4:35PM today on Power 96.
