Labor Day's Power 96 Cool One came from Canadian rockers the Pat Travers Band. I tracked the title track from their 1980 album, Crash and Burn. Singles like “Crash and Burn,” “Snortin’ Whiskey” and “(Your Love) Can’t Be Right” along with the Albert King cover “Born Under a Bad Sign” helped make this the band's highest charting release, climbing to No. 20 on the U.S. Billboard album chart.

Fans of Pat Travers are known as Hammer Heads. The band has gone through its usual change of line-ups over the years and has racked up more than three dozen albums including two releases last year, Retro Rocket and Feelin’ Right (The Polydor Albums 1975-1984 Remastered). You might remember that I've featured “Hellbound Train” from Retro Rocket. Pat Travers also guested on Extreme's "Get The Funk Out" and is part of the All-Star band Scrap Metal.
