Sir Paul McCartney was the artist of choice for Wednesday's Power 96 Cool One. Because he is recognized as one of the most successful composers and performers of all time, I decided to feature his single "The World Tonight," which came from his May 1997 release, Flaming Pie. The Cool One was the only single from the album released in the U.S. and managed to make it to No. 64 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 23 on the UK Singles Chart. The album, his 10th solo studio effort under his own name, topped out at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart.

Several family members and friends contributed to the album, especially his son, James McCartney. As a musician and songwriter, James also has shown up on other albums from his parents, including his father's Driving Rain and his mother Linda's Wide Prairie.

Please join me this afternoon at 4:35PM for the next Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault.
