After a nice New Year's weekend I was feeling a little mellow, so I opted for "Baby Come Back" from '70s rock band Player off their 1977 eponymous debut album. The album climbed to No. 26 on the U.S. Billboard 200. The single scored them a No. 1 hit on both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and Canadian RPM charts and No. 32 on the UK Singles Chart. The other single from the album, "This Time I'm In It For Love," peaked at No. 10 on the Hot 100 and No. 12 in Canada.

With their radio-friendly pop/rock sound they were a popular group that ended up opening for the likes of Gino Vannelli, Boz Scaggs, Eric Clapton, Heart and Kenny Loggins along with headlining their own shows. Unfortunately there seems to have been several line-up changes over the years and their last charting song, "If Looks Could Kill," hit No. 48 on the Hot 100 in 1981.
