Yesterday's Power 96 Cool One comes from the first Red Hot Chili Peppers album I ever listened to, Mother's Milk. This album made such an impact on my musical tastes that I can still remember listening to it like it was yesterday. My friend Dave and I were hanging out in Alexander Park on a beautiful late summer day and he popped this album (on cassette) into his car stereo and cranked it up for us to listen to. It was unlike anything I'd ever heard and I knew these guys would be huge someday.

I featured the single "Knock Me Down," which made it to No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The album, their fourth studio release, managed to peak at No. 52 on the U.S. Billboard 200.

This afternoon's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts on Seventh Street in Faribault, features a band that has maintained the same line-up for more than 40 years and are known for their strong blues roots and innuendo and double entendre-filled songs. If you think you know who it is, listen at 4:35PM to find out if you're right.
