Yesterday's Power 96 Cool One was the title track from REO Speedwagon's Good Trouble album. Released in 1982, it spawned five singles, of which "Keep the Fires Burnin'" charted the highest, coming in at No. 7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock Tracks. "Good Trouble" made it to No. 51 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The other singles were "Sweet Time," "The Key" and "Stillness of the Night," which all charted under 40 on either the Hot 100 or Mainstream charts. As their 10th album, Good Trouble ended up tied with their 11th studio release, Wheels Are Turnin', as their second best-selling record. Their best-seller was their 1981 release, Hi Infidelity, the biggest selling rock album for that year.

REO Speedwagon derived their name from a light truck company called REO Speed Wagon. A company that got its start in 1915 and continued production through roughly 1953. It was owned by Ransom Eli Olds, the same man that founded Oldsmobile.

Today's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault at 4:35PM, comes from a band whose name comes from a term used by pilots during World War II.
