Thursday's Power 96 Cool One came from Texas psychobilly trio the Reverend Horton Heat and their single "Lie Detector" from their fifth studio album, Space Heater. With its '50s horror poster parody cover and 16 tracks, this fun, rocking album charted at No. 187 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and No. 14 on the Heatseekers chart. This was the last album released on a major label. They were dropped by Interscope after mergers within the larger labels. You may have heard the first track from Space Heater, "Pride of San Jacinto," if you've ever played the video game Hot Wheels Turbo Racing.

Despite recording 11 albums, releasing several singles and having their music featured in cartoons, commercials and video games, this loud, raucous and humorous band has never achieved the mainstream success they deserve.

Please join me this afternoon at 4:35PM for the next Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts on Seventh Street in Faribault.
