Power 96 Cool One Recap: Rival Sons

The Power 96 Cool One that I featured yesterday was "Open My Eyes" from a band you might not have heard of before called Rival Sons. This Long Beach, Calif., group was formed back in 2009 and have four full albums and one EP under their belts. Yesterday's Cool One comes from their last release, 2014's Great Western Valkyrie, which features their new bass player, Dave Beste. The single "Open My Eyes" didn't chart but the album made it to No. 1 on the U.S. Top Heatseeker chart.

I'm actually surprised these guys aren't doing better. They have a unique and catchy blues-rock sound, and I've liked everything I've heard from them. If you get the chance, pick up the aforementioned album or 2009's Before the Fire, 2011's Pressure & Time, 2012's Head Down or their 2010 Rival Sons EP.
