Rush is my favorite band but, I have to admit, the first time I heard them I didn't really like them very much. My best friend, Jerry, used to give me a ride to school and he only had about four 8-track tapes to listen to on the way to school, Styx Grand Illusion, an Eagles Greatest Hits compilation, Nazareth Hair of the Dog and Rush A Farewell to Kings, that we would listen to over and over as we cruised around, before and after school. After hearing Rush a few times, I started to appreciate their style of progressive rock and became a big fan.

Yesterday's Power 96 Cool One was Rush's "A Passage to Bangkok" from their fourth studio album, 2112, released in 1976. Like a lot of their earlier work, the single failed to crack the chart and the album only made it to No. 61 on the U.S. Billboard 200 but fared rather well in their native country, making it to No. 5 on the Canadian Album chart.

Today's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts, comes your way at 4:35PM on Power 96.
