The Power 96 Cool One I played yesterday was from Slaughter. I tracked "Fly to the Angels" from their debut album Stick It To Ya. Released in 1990, it sold more than 2 million copies and went to No. 18 on the Billboard 200. Five singles were released from the album including "Gave Me Your Heart," "Burnin' Bridges," "Spend My Life," "Up All Night" and "Fly to the Angels." "Fly to the Angels" made it to No. 19 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 while "Up All Night" made it to No. 27 and "Spend My Life" came in at No. 39. The other two singles failed to register on the charts.

Slaughter was formed in 1988 from the remnants of Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Mark Slaughter had been the vocalist for the band and Dana Strum was the bassist. They finished forming their new band with Tim Kelly on lead guitar and Blas Elias on drums.

Check out today's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault, at 4:35PM. It features a band that harks back to the sounds and theatrics of the '80s metal bands.
