Power 96 Cool One Recap: Soundgarden

Yesterday's Power 96 Cool One came from Seattle's alternative rock band Soundgarden. The Cool One I chose was their single "Rusty Cage" from their third studio album, Badmotorfinger, which was released on Oct. 9, 1991, on A & M Records. The album was their most successful one at the time, reaching No. 39 on the U.S. Billboard 200, and it also did well on the UK charts, also going to No. 39. "Rusty Cage" was the third single from the album and scored them another hit with the burgeoning alternative crowd.

This is another band that was recommended to me by a friend. He brought me a copy of their second album, Louder Than Love, and asked me to give it a listen. Two songs in and I was hooked. Badmotorfinger came out shortly after my first exposure to their music and I immediately went went out and purchased it and was not disappointed. This album had a more mature sound to it and was lyrically superior to its predecessors.
