The Power 96 Cool One for Friday was a suggestion from Power 96 VIP Bob Porter. It was Soundgarden's "Pretty Noose," the first single, from their fifth studio release, Down on the Upside. The single made it to No. 37 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, No. 4 on the Mainstream Hot Rock Tracks and No. 2 on the Alternative Songs chart. The album itself, released in 1996, went to No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and takes its title from lyrics in "Dusty," the fourth track on the disc. Other singles from this U.S. RIAA certified 2X Platinum album include "Blow Up the Outside World," "Ty Cobb" and "Burden in My Hand."

Join me today at 4:35PM for the next Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault. Today's Cool One comes from a band who once referred to their denim-clad loyal fans as the "Blue Army."
